ArtSpace

Everyone has dreams and aspirations. As we journey through life and dreams are fulfilled, new ones take their place. One such dream of mine was to sell my handcrafted jewelry in a local gallery or gift shop. Unfortunately, living in a rural area limits the possibility of this becoming a reality. After approaching a few local, well established shops without success, I resigned myself to selling online and at area craft shows and art fairs. It was at one of these craft shows that I was approached by members of the Williams County Arts Council and invited to sell my jewelry at ArtSpace.

ArtSpace was established by the Williams County Arts Council. “The Williams County Arts Council is dedicated to providing an open creative space and gallery to benefit the region culturally and economically, one that promotes regional arts and artists in Northwest Ohio and nearby Northeast Indiana and Southcentral Michigan through sales, activities, classes and events.”

Located in NW Ohio in the village of Montpelier, (303 W. Main Street) ArtSpace features the works of area artists. I have to admit I am humbled by all the talented artists represented here. In addition to jewelry you will find paintings ranging from still life to landscape to modern and abstract; hand-blown glass bowls; fused glass trivets; pottery including bowls, mugs, jars, teapots, spoon rests, bottles and more.

The gallery has three general areas – retail, exhibition, training / entertainment. Currently on exhibit are paintings by area artists of the past. Exhibits are scheduled to run approximately two months. Various art classes are being planned for the training / entertainment area behind the retail area and will be held on Saturday mornings. These classes will be advertised as the details are finalized.

 

Open Mike Revue is on the 4th Friday of every month from 7:30pm to 9pm. This event is open for music, poetry, magic, any kind of performance. There is a $2 cover charge. The next Open Mike Revue is Friday, March 23, 2012.

ArtSpace is open every Friday from 4 -8 pm and Saturday from 9 am – 1 pm.
